Barb Mikulski schools man-child John Sununu.

Two weeks after his ass was kicked out of office, Mr. Sununu apparently still does not get the message. Just like his father did with the State Legislature back in the 80s, John carries on the time-honored Sununununu tradition of obstructing the opposition at every turn. Case in point below.

Sen. Mikulski brings up an ammendment to the auto bailout and my Junior Senator (surprise, surprise) objects therefore cutting off any further debate to the measure. Well, the old bull is having none of that and not-so-kindly reminds he and the rest of the GOP exactly why they went down in flames on Election Day.

It gets really good about 2 minutes in. No doubt the loser left the gallery with his tail between his legs.

“Boy am I sorry that that’s the last act of John Sununu in the Senate.” …and not a moment too soon.

  1. I would have paid a small amount of money to have seen the look on that smug prick’s face (even in defeat!) as Barb laid into him there.

  2. “I cannot wait to run for office.”  to finally be able to hop on my soapbox and it is be appropriate, cannot wait.

  3. If I lived in Maryland, Senator Mikulski would’ve just earned my vote. Of course I probably would’ve voted for her anyway cause she’s a Democrat, but I’d have done it with feeling.

The sad part is that it probably didn’t make much of a difference to its recipient. Part of the reason why Sununu lost is that he’s a smug asshole who seems both incapable of understanding that what he does is wrong and is so convinced of his own superiority that he assumes that everyone holds the same high opinion of himself that he does, and that anyone who disagrees with him is an idiot by default. I’d be willing to bet that even if we’d seen a reaction shot, he wouldn’t have been shocked. Bored, annoyed, possibly uncomfortable, waiting for the little people to finish their demagoguery, perhaps, but that’s it. A rich putz like Sununu wouldn’t have been moved by this speech, but it was still an excellent speech. Kudos to Mikulski for doing the right thing. Elder statespeople like Mikulski and Byrd who still have actual principles are the only thing keeping the Senate from turning into a complete joke.
